Prophet Yusuf, or Joseph, (peace be upon him) was young when he saw a beautiful dream. He told it to his father Yaqub (peace be upon him), who understood it as good news of something great for his son.

Yusuf's brothers felt jealous of him and separated him from their father by putting him in a well. A passing caravan found him and sold him in Egypt, so Yusuf (peace be upon him) grew up far from his family while still young.

Yusuf (peace be upon him) grew up in the house of a kind man in Egypt and was known for his honesty and trustworthiness. Even so, he faced injustice and was imprisoned despite being innocent, yet he remained patient and kept remembering Allah.

In prison, Allah taught Yusuf (peace be upon him) how to interpret dreams, and he began interpreting the dreams of those around him by Allah's permission, until news of him reached the King of Egypt.

Yusuf (peace be upon him) interpreted an important dream for the King, who was impressed by his wisdom and trustworthiness and placed him in charge of Egypt's stores and resources.

Years later, Yusuf's brothers came to Egypt seeking food during a time of drought. Yusuf recognized them, though they did not recognize him, and he treated them kindly despite what they had done to him before.

Yusuf (peace be upon him) forgave his brothers with a kind heart and sent for his father Yaqub (peace be upon him) and mother, and the whole family was reunited again after a very long separation.

The Lesson: Patience through hardship and forgiveness when one has the power to seek revenge bring Allah's pleasure and true peace of heart.
