Prophet Yaqub, or Jacob, (peace be upon him) was a righteous prophet with many sons. The one dearest to his heart was his son Yusuf (Joseph), because of the goodness and purity he saw in him.
Yusuf's brothers felt sad because of how much their father loved him, and they decided to separate him from the family. What they did caused their father Yaqub (peace be upon him) deep sorrow when he lost him.
Yaqub (peace be upon him) wept over the separation from his son Yusuf for many long years, so much that his eyesight grew weak from constant grief, yet he never lost hope in Allah's mercy.
Yaqub (peace be upon him) would often say that his patience was a beautiful patience, with no complaint except to Allah, and he kept praying that Allah would reunite him with his son Yusuf.
After many long years, Yaqub's hope came true, and news reached him that his son Yusuf was alive. He rejoiced greatly, and by Allah's permission, his eyesight returned to him.
Yaqub (peace be upon him) was reunited with his son Yusuf (peace be upon him) and the rest of his sons in Egypt, and they all thanked Allah for this beautiful reunion after such a long separation.
The Lesson: Beautiful patience and trust in Allah bring relief, no matter how long the sadness lasts.
