Majid's family traveled to a beautiful mountain resort covered in white snow for a fun winter vacation. Majid and his sister Dima learned how to wear heavy ski clothing and listened carefully to mountain guide Uncle Salim's instructions about always staying close to the group.
Everyone enjoyed slow skiing on the easy slope, building a big snowman, and a fun snowball toss. Majid was amazed by the beauty of the snow-covered trees, so he paused to take a photo with his small camera, not noticing the group had moved ahead.
When Majid looked up, he noticed his family was a bit farther away, and light snow began falling more heavily. He didn't panic, because he remembered what Uncle Salim had taught: stay in place and use the small emergency whistle hanging around his neck, instead of running around looking for his family.
Majid blew the whistle three times as he'd learned, and waited calmly standing beside a clearly visible large tree. Dima heard the sound first and alerted her parents and Uncle Salim, who followed Majid's clear footprints in the fresh snow and reached him within a few minutes.
Dad hugged Majid joyfully and gratefully, and Uncle Salim praised Majid's wise choice to stay put and use the whistle instead of panicking or running. He explained to everyone that following safety instructions is what makes mountain adventures fun and safe at the same time.
The family finished their day sipping hot chocolate by the fireplace, and Majid told everyone how confident he felt because he remembered the instructions and didn't panic. Everyone learned on that trip that good preparation and calmness when needed protect against any surprise.
The Lesson: Following safety instructions and staying calm when needed protect against surprises and make an adventure fun and safe.
