What Is a Synonym?
A synonym is a word that has the same meaning, or a very close meaning, to another word — like happy and glad, or big and large. Using synonyms helps us avoid repeating the same word over and over when we write. Instead of saying "the weather is nice, and the view is nice," we can say "the weather is nice, and the view is lovely."
An antonym, on the other hand, is a word with the exact opposite meaning of another word, such as big and small, tall and short, or day and night. Knowing antonyms helps us describe things more precisely and understand the differences between them.
Practicing synonyms and antonyms builds a child's vocabulary and helps them express ideas in different ways. It also deepens their understanding of the texts they read.
