Knowing letter names and sounds alone isn’t enough; memorizing their correct order is also an important skill later for using a dictionary or an index. Write the first 8 to 10 letters of the Arabic alphabet on separate cards and scatter them in front of your child.
- Show your child a model of the correct letter order as a reference at first.
- Ask them to arrange the scattered cards in the same sequence using the model.
- After a few tries, hide the model and ask them to order it from memory.
- Gradually add more letters as they master a smaller set.
This activity builds a structured sense of letter sequence instead of memorizing it as a random list, a foundation that later helps with alphabetical searching and sorting skills.
