It is told that three travelers were caught in the rain and took shelter inside a mountain cave. Suddenly a massive boulder rolled down and sealed the cave's entrance completely. They pushed against it with all their strength, but it would not budge, and they realized only something extraordinary could save them now.

One of them said to the others, «Nothing will save us from this rock except that we pray to God by our most sincere deeds.» The first prayed, recalling how he had always honored his elderly parents, serving them milk before his own family and children even when it meant waiting long into the night. The boulder shifted slightly, but the entrance stayed shut.

The second prayed, recalling a great temptation he had turned away from purely out of fear of God, even with every opportunity to give in. The rock moved further still. Then the third prayed, recalling how he had faithfully returned a worker's full wages years later, grown from careful investment, without keeping a single extra coin for himself. At that, the cave's entrance opened completely and the three men walked out free — teaching everyone that sincere, God-fearing good deeds are the greatest relief in the hardest of moments.
