Kareem was thrilled that his grandfather, Abu Adel, an experienced fisherman, had promised him a short boat trip near the shore. Kareem wore his life jacket as his grandfather taught him, and listened carefully to the safety instructions before the boat set off into calm, clear water under the beautiful morning sun.

They sailed a short distance, and Kareem watched colorful fish swimming beneath the boat and seagulls soaring freely above. His grandfather taught him how to tell wind direction from the movement of the waves, and told him wonderful stories about his old fishing trips from when he was young.

Suddenly, the small boat's engine stopped working completely while they were near a small, uninhabited island. Abu Adel wasn't too worried, having handled similar situations before, and told Kareem that the most important thing now was to think calmly and try solutions one at a time.

Grandfather checked the fuel tank and found it just needed trapped air released from the line, and asked Kareem to hold the spare paddle to keep the boat close to a nearby rock while he fixed the engine. The two worked together in beautiful coordination until the engine started working again within a few minutes.

Before heading back, Kareem noticed a small seagull tangled in fishing line wrapped around its wing on the nearby rocks. He asked his grandfather for help, and they approached very carefully and calmly so as not to frighten the bird, as Grandfather carefully cut the line while Kareem gently held the bird steady.

The little seagull flew off freely once released, and Kareem felt overwhelming joy for having helped a small creature in need. They returned safely to shore, and Kareem told his family about his wonderful adventure, realizing that staying calm during problems, and lending a hand to creatures in need, were two lessons he would never forget.

The Lesson: Staying calm when facing problems and lending a hand to creatures in need make any adventure more beautiful and meaningful.
