A mighty lion was sleeping under a big tree after a long day roaming the forest, when a little mouse scurried close by without noticing him.

The lion woke up suddenly and placed his huge paw over the little mouse, ready to eat him. The mouse begged him, "Please, let me live, and one day I will repay this kindness."

The lion laughed at the idea — how could such a tiny mouse ever help a mighty lion like him? But he felt pity and let the mouse go free.

Some time later, the lion was caught in a hunter's net. He struggled against the strong ropes with all his might, but could not break free, and roared loudly in anger and despair.

The little mouse heard the lion's roar and came running. He quickly began gnawing at the ropes with his sharp teeth until he had cut through them all, freeing the lion from the trap.

The lion thanked the little mouse from the bottom of his heart, and realized that even the smallest creatures can offer the greatest help.

The Lesson: Never look down on someone small — they may help you when you need it most.
