Noor and his friends spent a wonderful day at the public park, playing ball, eating pastries, and drinking juice from colorful plastic bottles. When it was time to leave, everyone left the empty food bags, juice bottles, and pastry wrappers scattered across the green grass without giving it much thought.

On their way out, they saw the elderly park keeper, Abu Firas, patiently collecting the scattered litter, bending to pick up piece after piece under the hot sun. Noor stopped and looked at the spot where they had been playing, finding it full of the very trash they had left behind.

Noor approached Abu Firas, embarrassed, and said, «Uncle, I’m sorry, this is our trash, we should have cleaned it up ourselves». Abu Firas smiled kindly and said, «The park is a home for all of us, my boy, and whoever loves their home doesn’t leave a mess for someone else to clean». Noor called his friends over, and they all went back to collect every piece of litter they had left, until the place was completely clean.

Abu Firas thanked them warmly and said, «This is the loveliest thing I’ve seen from children all week». The friends went home tired but content, and decided to carry a small bag on every future outing to collect their own litter, because they had come to understand that beautiful places stay beautiful only when everyone takes care of them.
