In a wide green meadow lived a flock of sheep that grazed quietly every day. Among them was a small sheep named Wadie, who was afraid of almost everything, even the sound of wind among the trees.
One foggy evening, a little lamb stayed out late beyond the barn, wandering far from the flock while searching for his mother, whom he could not find, as darkness slowly settled over the meadow.
Wadie heard the lost lamb crying in the distance and felt a wave of fear, but he thought of his little friend alone in the dark, and decided to overcome his fear for his sake.
Wadie walked with hesitant steps among the trees, repeating to himself, 'I can do this for my friend,' until he found the little lamb hiding behind a rock. He approached calmly, reassured him, and carefully led him back to the flock.
The lamb's mother hugged Wadie gratefully, and the eldest sheep in the flock told him, 'True courage, Wadie, is not being without fear — it is acting with love and wisdom despite your fear.' Wadie felt great pride and learned his heart was stronger than he had ever imagined.
The Lesson: True courage means acting with wisdom and love despite fear, not the absence of it.
