Children usually learn Arabic-Indic numerals (١, ٢, ٣...) used in Arabic writing, but may also encounter Western numerals (1, 2, 3...) in games, apps, or some books. Write the numbers 1 to 10 in both forms on separate, differently colored cards.
- Lay the Arabic-Indic number cards out neatly in front of your child.
- Scatter the matching Western numeral cards.
- Ask them to find the Western numeral that matches each Arabic-Indic number and place it alongside.
- Say the number aloud with each correct match to reinforce the link.
This activity builds flexibility in recognizing numbers regardless of how they’re written — a practical skill useful later when using calculators, digital apps, or translated books.
