Gather a set of wooden or plastic blocks (ideally at least 10) and sit with your child on a flat, stable surface. Ask them to carefully place one block on top of another, starting with a wide base if the blocks vary in size.

Encourage counting out loud with each added block — this links the activity to counting too — and it's completely fine if the tower falls; make that part of the fun and have them rebuild it. With older children, turn it into a challenge: who can build the tallest tower before it topples?

This activity strengthens fine motor control, spatial judgment, and balance, and teaches planning and patience while treating failure as a natural part of learning.
