Make the first attempt fairly easy so your child doesn't get discouraged, and avoid hiding items in high or unsafe spots, or anywhere outside your view during play.

Choose 3-5 small items as “treasures” (a small toy, a sticker, a piece of candy) and hide them in reasonably accessible spots around the house or garden. Prepare simple, age-appropriate clues — words for older children (“look under something soft in the bedroom”) or simple drawings or photos of the spot for younger ones.

Give your child the first clue and let them explore on their own, stepping in only if they get seriously frustrated. Each time they find a “treasure,” hand over the next clue until they find the last one. You can dress it up with an exciting theme, like a simple hand-drawn treasure map.

This activity develops logical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to follow sequential instructions, and sparks curiosity and active exploration, alongside the sheer thrill of finding each treasure.
