At the edge of a small harbor stood a tall white lighthouse, cared for by a kind man named Grandpa Salem, and his little grandson Tariq, who loved visiting him on weekends.

At sunset, Tariq climbed with his grandfather to the top of the lighthouse, and together they lit the great lamp that turned gently, lighting the way for small boats returning home from the sea.

"Every beam of light we send, Tariq," Grandpa Salem said, "helps a tired fisherman find his way safely home to his family." Tariq watched the distant boats slowly draw closer to the shore.

They listened to the calm waves breaking softly against the rocks and the light wind passing between them, and Tariq felt a deep sense of comfort as he watched the last boat arrive safely at the harbor.

When every boat had made it home, Grandpa said, "Now it's our turn to rest too." They climbed down together, Tariq hugged his grandfather, and he fell asleep in his warm bed, happy that he had helped light the way home for others.

The Lesson: Gently helping others gives us a lovely feeling of peace before sleep.
