After mastering numbers 1 to 10, a child is ready to learn numbers up to 100. These numbers are built from two parts: the tens column and the units column.
Numbers 11 to 19 have their own special names to memorize: eleven, twelve, thirteen... up to nineteen. From twenty onward, the pattern becomes regular: twenty, twenty-one, twenty-two... thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety, until we reach one hundred.
Notice the pattern: each new group of ten starts with the tens name (twenty, thirty...) then the units are added after (twenty-one, twenty-two...). Practicing counting aloud from 1 to 100 daily strengthens a child's memory of this sequence.
